Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Manager to join our team at Inter-citi Logistics. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our transportation department, ensuring that all shipments are delivered on time and in good condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate Daily Operations: Monitor and analyze the performance of our transportation department, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to optimize efficiency.
  • Monitor Department's Performance: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, customer satisfaction, and transportation costs.
  • Plan and Organize Daily Operations: Develop and implement daily schedules and routes to ensure timely delivery of shipments.
  • Plan for Changes to Schedules and Policies: Collaborate with our logistics team to develop and implement changes to our transportation schedules and policies.
  • Prepare Reports for Senior Management: Provide regular reports to our senior management team on the performance of our transportation department.
  • Recruit Staff: Participate in the recruitment and hiring process for transportation staff.
  • Supervise Staff: Supervise and mentor transportation staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Train Staff: Provide training and development opportunities for transportation staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Manage Finances or Budget: Manage the budget for our transportation department, ensuring that expenses are within approved limits.
  • Arrange for Shipping Documentation and the Tracking and Tracing of Goods in Transit: Ensure that all necessary shipping documentation is completed and that goods are properly tracked and traced during transit.
  • Ensure Transport Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that our transportation operations comply with all relevant regulations and laws.
  • Establish and Implement Policies and Standards for the Transportation and Storage of Goods: Develop and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods.
  • Negotiate for Services and Preferential Rates: Negotiate with carriers and suppliers to secure the best possible rates and services.
  • Oversee the Scheduling and Dispatching of Vehicles and Goods: Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods to ensure timely delivery of shipments.
  • Oversee the Setting of Transportation Service Rates and Monitor Revenue: Monitor and analyze transportation service rates and revenue to ensure that our operations are profitable.
  • Organize and Maintain Inventory: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and ensure that inventory is properly stored and managed.
  • Record Cargo Information, Hours of Service, Distance Travelled and Fuel Consumption: Record and track cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption to ensure that our operations are efficient and cost-effective.

This role will supervise 1 to 2 people.
