Research Services Specialist

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly skilled Research and Grants Navigator to join the Office of the VP Research. The successful candidate will provide navigation and project management support for research and knowledge dissemination activities at TRU, with a particular focus on post-grant support.
Key Responsibilities- Research Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with researchers, faculty, students, and administrative support units to provide expert advice on research services, facilities, and supports.
- Post-Award Administration: Navigate and facilitate the post-award administration of external and internal research grants, sponsored contracts, and awards, ensuring timely transfer of funds and compliance with regulations.
- Process Development and Implementation: Lead the creation and renewal of processes and procedures regarding administrative research services on campus, engaging with service units in each area.
- Customer Service and Support: Serve as the primary contact for researchers and TRU administrative support units for all post-award activities, providing excellent advice, customer service, and resolving complex issues related to sponsored projects.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Act as the compliance point of contact, interpreting and informing researchers of any compliance issues regarding granting agency regulations, and assisting in correcting discrepancies and monitoring corrective actions.
- Training and Development: Facilitate research-related services and post-award grants orientation for new researchers, developing training materials and providing systems training as requested.
- Reporting and Record-Keeping: Establish a calendar of reporting and closeout reminders for sponsored programs, maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials pertinent to research services and post-award grants activities.
- Master's Degree: A Master's degree is required.
- Experience in Research Services Administration: A minimum of three years of recent work experience in research services administration or pre-and/or post-award grant administration, preferably in an academic setting with a broad understanding of academic operations and research required.
- Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of research funding agencies, academic research organizations, and the principles and methods of research administration and grant program management, as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
