Job Title: Recreation and Life Enrichment Manager

Baycrest Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recreation and Life Enrichment Manager to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Recreation and Life Enrichment Manager will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of recreation and life enrichment programs for our patients and residents. This includes collaborating with staff, physicians, and leadership to ensure alignment between corporate and program strategic and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement recreation and life enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with the team to envision, design, and oversee recreation and life enrichment programs.
  • Develop an annual work plan for the department.
  • Oversee daily operations, including assigning staff to lead programs and projects, ensuring clinical coverage, and providing operational oversight.
  • Review key performance indicators and identify opportunities for continuing quality improvement.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives within the portfolio.
  • Propose and promote best practices and goals to effectively serve the needs of the Baycrest community.
  • Identify opportunities for innovative service and/or program enhancement.
  • Liaise with internal managers, directors, and executives, as well as external community partners, to expand holistic program enrichment offerings and find new opportunities for intersections and service enhancements.
  • Liaise with external business, cultural, and art-based agencies and academia to build and maintain partnerships.
  • Manage budgets and work closely with the Foundation to identify funding opportunities, including grant and proposal writing, business cases, and annual reports on funded activities.
  • Work with internal and external counsel to develop proposals, MOU documents, service level agreements, procurement documents, research, and IP contracts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social sciences, recreation, leisure, gerontology, kinesiology, or an arts discipline, with experience integrating health and arts.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading large, inter-professional teams.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, particularly in a complex healthcare facility (hospital and/or long-term care facility), is an asset.
  • Previous proposal/business case writing experience.
  • Experience in the research process, including obtaining research grants, budgeting and financial management, research ethics submissions, participant engagement, and informed consent processes.
  • An understanding of academia, museums, fine arts, granting agencies, health facilities, therapeutic recreation, and professional arts.
  • Skills in partnership development and innovative program development.
  • Strength in balancing multiple projects with varying deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to foster interdepartmental collaborations.
  • Leadership in a team environment, with effective team building skills.
