Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Technician to join our team at CPKC. As a key member of our locomotive maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to our facilities, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our locomotive fleets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support on GE and EMD locomotives, identifying and resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Collaborate with the technical training group to develop and deliver on-the-job training programs for craft employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent and General Shop Foreman to manage the Diesel Mechanic Apprentice program, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of training.
  • Identify gaps in craft training and develop strategies to improve the locomotive knowledge base of shop employees.
  • Support the implementation of new modifications, software updates, and technology, including PTC and RCLS, and provide feedback on work instructions.
  • Train craft employees on new technologies and procedures, ensuring they are equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
Requirements
  • 10-15 years of field experience in locomotive maintenance on GE and EMD locomotive fleets.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including PTC and RCLS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including SAP Plant Maintenance.
  • Strong coaching and training skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Bilingual, with the ability to communicate in English and French.
