About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Systems Administrator to join our team at Verafin, a leading innovator in anti-financial crime management solutions. As a Cloud Systems Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and availability of our cloud infrastructure, utilizing a range of AWS services to support our application and internal development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Maintain Cloud Infrastructure: Ensure the optimal performance and availability of our cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with Development Teams: Work closely with internal development teams to support and maintain backend infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Perform Configuration Updates and Maintenance: Perform regular configuration updates and maintenance activities to patch, secure, and maintain systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Respond to and Analyze Issues: Respond promptly to and analyze issues that affect system performance, implementing solutions to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor and Maintain Enterprise-Level Server Management Environment: Monitor and maintain an enterprise-level server management environment, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Create and Update Documentation: Create and update documentation for common issues and processes, ensuring process improvements and knowledge sharing.
  • Support Occasional After-Hours Maintenance: Provide support for occasional after-hours maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Learn and Research Third-Party Tools: Continuously learn and research various third-party tools utilized by the team, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical College Graduate: Possess a degree from a recognized technical college program.
  • 2-3 Years' Experience in Similar Role: Have 2-3 years' experience in a similar position, with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and system administration.
  • Experience with System Administration Tasks: Possess experience performing system administration tasks, including installing, maintaining, monitoring, recovering, rebuilding, upgrading, and patching.
  • Experience with Linux Distributions: Have experience administrating Linux distributions, with a strong understanding of Linux fundamentals.
  • Experience with Terraform: Possess experience using Terraform, with a strong understanding of infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with Chef: Have experience using Chef, with a strong understanding of automation and configuration management.
  • Experience with AWS: Possess experience running systems using AWS, with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with Virtualization and Network Administration: Have experience with virtualization and network administration, with a strong understanding of network fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Java, Python, and Bash: Possess knowledge of Java, Python, and Bash, with a strong understanding of programming fundamentals.
  • AWS Certifications: Possess AWS certifications, with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Strong Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking Skills: Possess strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
What Does Success Look Like in This Role?
  • Successfully Blending Systems Administration and Development: Successfully blend systems administration and development to architect solutions in AWS, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Understanding Verafin's Cloud Infrastructure: Have a strong understanding of Verafin's cloud infrastructure and the various AWS services that support it.
