Senior Financial Analyst, Tax

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst, Tax to join our team at the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. As a key member of our Finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial planning, analysis, and reporting support to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with full-cycle accounting processes and financial transactions, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks.
- Prepare monthly budgets, forecasts, and reports, including variance analysis and risk assessment for senior management stakeholders.
- Monitor regular spend and special project budgets, conducting regular budget/forecast reviews to ensure projects stay within budget.
- Perform research and financial analysis in areas such as financial performance measures, KPIs, operational planning, budgeting/forecasting, and reconciliations.
- Provide financial controllership and management advice and support, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and best practices.
- Facilitate informed decision-making, developing and documenting financial policies and various controllership activities and corporate projects.
- CPA accounting designation and 5+ years of relevant experience in financial reporting, planning, analysis, policy, and accounting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of full-cycle accounting processes and financial transactions, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks, in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Expert-level knowledge of financial planning, reporting, and analysis, including preparing regular financial reports and statements for various stakeholders and senior management.
- Experience working closely with other divisions/departments and project managers to ensure accurate financial planning (budgeting/forecasting) and reporting, monitoring of project progress, identifying variances, and reforecasting expenses and project costs as necessary.
- Strong analytical skills to compile and analyze data from a variety of sources, knowledge of recognized research, statistical, and analytical tools and methods, with the ability to formulate accurate conclusions and recommendations and prepare related reports/materials.
