Relief Third Engineer Position

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Relief Third Engineer to join our team at Fraser River Pile & Dredge. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for managing assigned duties promptly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and record fuel levels of the day tank and settling tank;
- Monitor and record levels in dirty water tanks, sludge tanks, and main engine sump tanks;
- Perform general checks on machinery (oil/water level, temperatures, and pressure);
- Drain water from starting air bottles and air systems;
- Drain water/sludge accumulated on F.O. daily tanks;
- Document and report incidents, repairs, failures, use of spare parts, and special activities;
- Take over running watch duties;
- Perform repairs and tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer;
- Execute and supervise tasks as ordered by the Chief Engineer;
- Complete the engine room log, parts, and filter inventory.
Requirements
- Certificate of Competency
- Minimum - Fourth-Class Engineer, Motor Ship
- Marine Medical Certificate
- Certificate of Proficiency in STCW Basic Safety
- Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats
- Certificate of Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting
- Certificate of Proficiency in Marine Advanced First Aid
- Ship management practices taught using a propulsive plant simulator
- Eligible to work in Canada
Working Conditions
- 12-hour days with overtime as required
- Live aboard vessel / 24 hour a day operation
- Unionized position with the Canadian Merchant Service Guild
