Job Title: Technical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Designer to join our team at Electronic Arts. As a Technical Designer, you will play a critical role in creating and implementing game mechanics and interactables that enhance the overall gameplay experience.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with level designers to develop and implement game mechanics and interactables that meet the highest standards of quality and playability.
  • Work closely with other disciplines on the game team to ensure that levels are optimized for performance and maintain a high level of quality.
  • Communicate effectively with your lead and teammates to prioritize tasks and set goals for your work.
  • Participate in the review and critique of your work and the work of others to ensure that it meets the highest standards.
  • Contribute to the development of project technical design infrastructure and collaborate with other technical designers to implement it.
  • Support and mentor your teammates by sharing knowledge, debugging, training, and writing technical design documentation.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to learn new skills and stay up-to-date with industry trends to benefit your growth, your team, and the studio.
Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of experience as a technically-oriented game designer, with a focus on multiplayer games.
  • Shipped at least one game with a strong emphasis on technical design.
  • Expertise in visual scripting and working with game editors like Frostbite, Unreal, and Unity.
  • Proficient in debugging and troubleshooting game mechanics and interactables.
  • Strong understanding of the importance of documentation and teaching others.
  • Enjoy creative problem-solving and value respectful feedback processes.
  • Broad taste in games and a passion for game development.
Valuable Additional Experience
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
  • Shipped a AAA game with a strong technical design component.
  • Experience working on FPS games and developing game mechanics and interactables for this genre.
