Chief Executive Officer

FIREFLY - Physical, Emotional, Developmental and Community Services seeks a visionary leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall leadership and operations of the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of child development and wellbeing, coupled with a proven track record in managing complex social services through a non-profit organization. Exceptional communication skills are paramount, enabling the CEO to effectively advocate for children's welfare and engage with diverse stakeholders, including medical professionals, government agencies, and community partners.

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders. They will ensure that FIREFLY is well-positioned externally and is a key advocate and service system leader for child and youth physical, emotional, developmental, and community services across the Kenora and Rainy River Districts and the province.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organization, ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, values, goals, and policies of FIREFLY.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to ensure the organization's current and future success, including financial planning, resource allocation, and service delivery.
  3. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders to ensure the organization's sustainability and growth.
  4. Advocate for children's welfare and engage with diverse stakeholders to promote the organization's mission and values.
  5. Provide leadership and direction to the senior management team, ensuring effective management of the organization's operations and resources.
Requirements
  1. A minimum of five years of senior management experience in the community social services/health sectors, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  2. Enthusiasm and a passion to excel and take calculated risks.
  3. Substantive leadership experience in an executive capacity, ideally demonstrated in human service delivery organizations.
  4. Cultural competency and sensitivity, promoting a culturally inclusive environment and fostering a culture where diversity is celebrated, equity is a priority, and inclusion is embedded in every aspect of the organization's operations and interactions.
  5. A strong and sincere commitment to addressing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.
  6. Experience in Strategic Planning and high-level delivery, translating organizational vision into successful outcomes.
  7. Experience with the negotiation of service contracts and labour agreements.
  8. Leadership experience in working with Boards of Directors and understanding of the Board governance model.
  9. A solid understanding of government, policy, and programming related to health and social services environment and especially the area of children's services and northern practice.
  10. Business management skills including budgeting, financial planning and management, project planning.
  11. A track record of purposely developing networks to build value through collaboration.
