Job Summary

The Municipal Engineer at UBC leads the strategic direction of municipal engineering and infrastructure services, focusing on asset management, design, and technical services. This role involves planning, designing, and implementing public realm, solid waste, drainage, and fleet systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and manages maintenance programs for municipal infrastructure, ensuring asset data is current and reliable.
  • Implements standard operating procedures, maintenance plans, and training for new and existing infrastructure.
  • Provides engineering consulting services for lifecycle replacement and deferred maintenance programs.
  • Reviews and updates UBC's Technical Guidelines to address compliance issues and applicable standards and codes.
  • Provides technical support for design, development, and implementation of waste, road, fleet, and drainage systems.
  • Manages consultants and contractors working on campus municipal infrastructure and solid waste systems.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Eligibility for membership in a professional Institute or Association.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in related engineering and planning experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Consulting and construction management experience.
  • Experience in progressive professional engineering responsibility in municipal engineering and maintenance operations management.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Maintenance Management Systems (EMMS) like Workday or Planon.
