Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team at Grand Council Treaty #3. As a key member of our Indian Residential School (IRS) program, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of Intergenerational survivors and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health and cultural support referrals to clients
  • Conduct intake and provide information on resources available to clients
  • Offer emotional support at various cultural gatherings, training sessions, and ceremonies
  • Analyze statistical data and prepare IRS updates, reports, and position papers
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and information sessions
  • Liaise with First Nation members, communities, and other stakeholders
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a post-secondary diploma in Native Studies or a related field, with experience in sharing Anishinaabe culture and tradition. Alternatively, we welcome applicants with life learning experiences and practice in sharing Anishinaabe culture and tradition.

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient use of office-based software, including Microsoft Office and online video-conferencing platforms
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and departments
  • Ability to provide professional customer service
  • Effective communication and diplomacy skills
  • Proven skill in formatting and drafting correspondence, forms, reports, and proposals
Employment Conditions

This is a temporary position from July 2024 to December 2024, with the possibility of an extension. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and a clear criminal records/vulnerable sector check.
