About the Role

The GMNS Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express' revenue, Merchant discount revenue. As a Pricing Analyst, you'll be responsible for analyzing the impact of investment initiatives and industry trends on the AXP discount rate, enabling better decision-making by GMS leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the discount rate forecast process for Canada, analyzing the impact of investments and projecting erosion in dollar and rate terms
  • Analyze monthly Discount Rate variances to understand movements in AXP's Discount Rate due to investment decisions, merchant negotiations & payments, and business mix across industries and geographies
  • Develop custom pricing solutions and actively participate in negotiation strategy for large and small merchants in partnership with Client Management
  • Support GMS activities, including contract renegotiations and new signings, across Canada
  • Conduct monthly presentations to Pricing, Finance, and Controllership leaders on discount rate performance and market trends
  • Oversee tracking of pricing initiative benefits, providing periodic updates to Pricing leaders, and reporting results for Business Transformation purposes

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in financial services industry and/or other Finance related roles
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including high proficiency with Excel
  • Comfort and experience in analyzing financial data, drawing inferences, and making recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and influence large cross-functional teams and Senior leaders
  • Results-focused, with ability to prioritize effectively and work in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines
  • Proactive nature with close attention to detail and solid project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong work ethic and passion for high-quality and responsiveness to internal customers
  • B.A. or B.S. required
  • Understanding of merchant business or payments industry is a plus
