Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Court Clerk and Justice of the Peace. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing various court-related duties, including recording court proceedings, maintaining order in the courtroom, and completing court dispositions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record and maintain accurate records of court proceedings
  • Maintain order in the courtroom and ensure a respectful environment for all parties
  • Complete court dispositions and related paperwork
  • Assist the judiciary, members of the legal profession, police, and public as required
  • Hold the designation of Deputy Registrar and Staff Justice of the Peace and perform the duties associated with those appointments
Requirements
  • Experience working in a legal or office environment performing data entry and preparing complex documents
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks in pressure situations with strict deadlines
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a respectful workplace
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook) or equivalent programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a recognized Legal or Administrative Assistant program or other related post-secondary education
