About the Opportunity

As a key member of the Nova Scotia Health team, the Patient Flow Operations Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of patient care services. This position is responsible for coordinating patient flow services within Colchester East Hants County, Northern Zone facilities and NSH, in accordance with the mission and policies of the Nova Scotia Health. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on responding to capacity/patient flow issues, emergency response, bed management, and supporting staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective services.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related health discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care setting, including 1-2 years in a supervisory and/or leadership capacity. The successful candidate will possess excellent leadership, planning, organization, time management, and conflict resolution skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with patients, families, management, staff, physicians, community partners, and continuing care providers.

The Patient Flow Operations Manager will be responsible for applying strategic and analytic thinking to address challenges and achieve the ultimate goal of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective services. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of continuous quality improvement principles and the ability to apply them in a healthcare setting. Additionally, the candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in the use and application of software programs related to bed utilization, such as the Patient Flow Dashboard (Tableau) and Meditech.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related health discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an acute care setting, including 1-2 years in a supervisory and/or leadership capacity
  • Excellent leadership, planning, organization, time management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to collaborate with patients, families, management, staff, physicians, community partners, and continuing care providers
  • Strong understanding of continuous quality improvement principles
  • Proficiency in the use and application of software programs related to bed utilization
Hours
  • Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 Hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, evenings & weekends (May be required to do overnight during times of system overcrowding, not part of regular scheduled hours)
Compensation and Incentives

$40.15 - $53.35 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
