Job Title: Infant and Child Development Worker

The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled and compassionate Infant and Child Development Worker to join our team at the Bethany Hope Centre. As a key member of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social interaction and personal development.
  • Support the scheduling of childcare spots and interact with parents regarding space availability.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and engagement with parents on child development and behavior.
  • Ensure confidentiality and maintain accurate records of children, families, staff, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Support parent-child intakes and child development assessments as required.
  • Model appropriate behaviors and attitudes to support growth and promote change for children and families.
  • Participate in ongoing training in trauma and infant/child mental health.
  • Provide emergency first aid and complete incident reports as needed.
  • Prepare healthy snacks and maintain facility cleanliness and tidiness.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus specialized training in Early Childhood Education Assistant or equivalent.
  • Registered Early Childhood Education Assistant or equivalent association registration.
  • Certificate in Infant/Child Mental Health an asset.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
Working Conditions:
  • Permanent part-time position, 24 hours per week.
  • Typical working conditions include childcare rooms and office spaces.
  • Lifting/moving equipment and children, room setup, and active involvement with children for most of the day.
