Sessional Instructor: Intro to Material Science Faculty Position

OCAD University invites applications for a Sessional Instructor position in the Faculty of Arts & Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and teaching-related responsibilities for the course SCTM-2008: Intro to Material Science (0.5 credit).
Responsibilities:
Teaching and teaching-related responsibilities may include course outline development, studio preparation and delivery, grading, mid-term evaluations and final evaluations/reviews.
Responsibility for health & safety and meeting academic and curricular requirements and deadlines.
Qualifications:
Terminal degree in art, design or relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional/practical experience.
Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is considered an asset, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty.
Terms of Employment:
Sessional appointments are fixed-term annual contracts. Sessional compensation includes a per-course pay scale with salary level of $6,871.00 (per 0.5 credit course) plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay, per the provisions of the Employment Standards Act. These positions are subject to budgetary approval and satisfactory enrolment levels.

The Faculty of Arts & Science invites applications for the following anticipated course offerings in the fall/winter 2024-25 terms. This course provides an interdisciplinary study of the structure, properties and applications of traditional and contemporary materials used in art and design including pigments, dyes, metals, ceramics, glass, polymers and biological materials as well as new emerging materials. The course will place materials in the historic context of technological innovation that led to the development of various classes of materials. The course will address physical science attributes such as mechanical, chemical and biological properties and their influence the performance of materials. The physical, optical, chemical properties and environmental sustainability of various materials will be examined in consideration to material selection in design and art practice.
