Job Title: Assistant Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor to join our faculty at the University of Toronto Mississauga. The successful candidate will be appointed to a tenure stream position in Game Studies and will be expected to contribute to the development of our undergraduate programs in Communication, Culture, Information and Technology, Digital Enterprise Management, Technology, Coding and Society, and Professional Writing and Communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and develop courses in Game Studies, including game design, game development, and game culture
  • Conduct research in Game Studies, with a focus on critical perspectives and methodologies
  • Develop and maintain a strong research program, with a focus on securing external funding
  • Contribute to the development of our undergraduate programs, including curriculum design and course development
  • Participate in departmental and faculty service, including committee work and mentorship
Requirements:
  • PhD in Game Studies, Communication, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Experience in teaching and research in Game Studies
  • Strong research and teaching record, with a focus on critical perspectives and methodologies
  • Ability to secure external funding for research
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in game development or game design
  • Knowledge of game studies theory and methodology
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to contribute to the development of our undergraduate programs, including curriculum design and course development
