Position Overview

Spirituality is a fundamental aspect of our existence. At Golden West Centennial Lodge, we recognize its significance in providing a framework for understanding human experience, including the healthcare journey. Our Spiritual Health Care Practitioners are uniquely trained to navigate the complexities of suffering, vulnerability, death, and dying, as well as hope, compassion, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold dignity in person-centered care by identifying, assessing, and responding to the unique spiritual and religious needs of patients, families, and staff in an open, compassionate, and culturally safe manner.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to provide holistic care.
  • Develop and implement spiritual care plans that address the diverse needs of our patients and families.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited Canadian university or the approved equivalent.
  • Supervised clinical experience in a healthcare environment, including coursework in psychology, sociology, philosophy, and spirituality.
  • Additional training in Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Safety, WRHA Health Ethics-Equity, Dignity Therapy, Advance Care Planning, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) conversations, and palliative care is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Active membership in a professional organization with a Code of Ethics.
