About the Role

Analyzes technical specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools. Fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes. Provides assistance and guidance to apprentices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support shift with completing open action items.
  • Production coverage, change overs, manufacturing spares, preventative maintenance, C.I.'s, and predictive maintenance.
  • Carry out daily pre-start crane and toolroom inspection sheet.
  • Maintain a clean and organized toolroom.
  • Ensure clear communication of production-related issues are passed onto all shifts and outstanding work is prioritized to be continued.
  • Maintain good communication with supervisor and team leaders by way of verbal discussions and email.
  • Inspects and troubleshoots new tools and progressive dies.
  • Operates toolroom equipment effectively and safely.
  • Assists in the tooling process as assigned while meeting the established customer requirements.
  • Modify, repair, and troubleshoot progressive dies while working to very close tolerances from blueprints, sketches, and samples.
  • Maintains documentation and preventative maintenance requirements of progressive dies.
  • Manages daily priorities for attainment of customer satisfaction, while also meeting production schedule commitments to achieve business objectives.
  • Performs assigned tasks within given timeframes and monitors/reports progress to the tool and die team leader or designate.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvements, dimensional quality concerns, and customer issues and supports department goals and objectives.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge.
  • Performs all job functions in alignment with IATF 16949 quality management standards and ISO 14001.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement.
  • Maintain 5S standards in working environment.
  • Attend training based on Mytox's internal training matrix.
  • Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful, and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety, and environment rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or any reasonable request by management.
Requirements
  • Five years related experience and/or training in an automotive production environment.
  • Mould Maker Certificate of qualification (License).
  • Valid forklift license.
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment and programming.
  • Basic understanding of the computer.
  • Ability to program operate sink/wire EDM.
  • Familiar with CAD Modeling (Mastercam, SolidWorks, ESPRIT, Inventor).
  • TIG welding experience.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
