Software Development Engineer - 2024

The role of a Software Development Engineer at Amazon is to collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary teams to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market. You will design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment, help lead fundamental changes in the industry, and create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary teams to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  2. Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
  3. Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
  4. Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
  5. Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
  6. Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Currently enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or majors relating to these fields.
  2. To qualify, applicants should have earned a Bachelor's or Master's degree between October 2023 to September 2024 and/or graduated within the last 12 months.
  3. Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Previous technical internship(s), if applicable.
  2. Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  3. Experience in optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
  4. Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
  5. Adept at handling ambiguous or undefined problems as well as ability to think abstractly.
