Job Summary

The Recreation Services Supervisor is a key member of the Norfolk County Recreation Department, responsible for providing leadership and management of the County's recreational services. This role requires a strong understanding of recreation programming, customer service, and community development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and management of the Recreation Department, including supervising staff, developing work plans, and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
  • Recreation Programming: Develop, supervise, and evaluate recreation programming for residents of Norfolk County, including community programs, seniors' services, and facility booking.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to residents of Norfolk County, including responding to inquiries, resolving conflicts, and ensuring equal access to services for vulnerable individuals.
  • Marketing and Promotions: Develop and implement marketing and promotions strategies to promote recreation services and programs.
  • Administrative Systems: Manage administrative systems, including technology implementation, to support recreation-related sales and services.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including job-specific training for Recreation staff.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare reports for the Director, Senior Leadership Team, and/or County Council, including data analysis, customer satisfaction, revenue, and expenses.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Recreation and/or Leisure Studies or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of directly related experience, preferably in a municipal setting, with a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Certifications: Standard First Aid and CPR certifications, with professional accreditation, certification, and/or related experience in areas such as Parks and Recreation Management, Therapeutic Recreation, Leadership Training, Fitness, and/or Older Adult Certifications.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills, supervisory, leadership, and team-building skills, with experience in developing work processes, conducting business process reviews, and advising on and supporting the implementation of new tools.

Norfolk County offers a competitive salary range of $80,454 - $100,568 per annum, under review, and a comprehensive benefits package.
