About the Role:

  • Develop and implement strategies to monitor new regulations and their impact on our operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for regulatory requirements and standards specific to the maritime industry.
  • Participate in maritime accident/incident investigations and develop corrective actions.
  • Contribute to business development at regulatory and new business acquisition levels.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with partners and government agencies related to the maritime industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and ensure harmonization of minimum personnel requirements for ongoing operations and special projects.
  • Develop and implement training and evaluation programs following ISM standards, Transport Canada requirements, Classification Society, OCIMF, and company-established procedures.
  • Participate in working committees related to regulatory compliance and other relevant projects.
  • Oversee files submitted to Transport Canada regarding office decisions and exemptions.
  • Prepare investigation reports on maritime incidents or accidents and submit them to the appropriate authorities.
  • Plan internal and external safety management system audits for the company's fleet of vessels.
  • Manage personnel under supervision and participate in the Health, Safety, and Environment Management System.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Transportation or related field.
  • Marine certification relevant to the position.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of professional experience in the maritime field.
  • Excellent knowledge of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of CSA 2001, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS, OCIMF, Classification Societies, and other relevant regulations.
  • Sense of priorities, excellent analytical skills, and autonomy.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum.
