Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Dietitian, you will play a vital role in providing expert nutrition advice and care to patients and clients across our health system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients and clients, families, and communities.
  • Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
  • Lead team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
  • Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring Dietetic Interns.
  • Contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition/Dietetics.
  • 1 year of diabetes-related experience required; applicants with less than one year of experience may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of recent related experience in an acute care/community setting.
  • Completion of an approved Dietetic internship.
  • Licensed with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association.
  • Eligible for membership with the Dietitians of Canada.
  • Certified Diabetes Educator preferred.
  • Experience in Primary Healthcare an asset.
  • Experience working in a rural setting with a diverse client population an asset.
  • Current successful completion of a Basic Life Support (BCLS) program required or willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated accountability, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong client focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships.
  • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with group education.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices, and organizational health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with principles of Motivational interviewing.
  • Demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment.
  • Exemplary work history as demonstrated in current and past employment.
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

We offer a competitive salary range of $32.30 - $42.58 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
