About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Claims Adjuster II to join our growing team. This is a 1-year secondment/contract opportunity that can be based in any of our Atlantic Canada offices: Dartmouth NS, Dieppe NB, or St John's NL.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements fairly and equitably.
  • Communicate with customers, claimants, lawyers, and insurers to settle claims and report findings and settlements in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Conduct investigations and gather additional information, such as independent medical examinations or customers' medical or employment history, to clarify and/or justify a claim.
  • Collect reports and statements to determine liability and coverage.
  • Ensure all cases are clearly documented and meet any legislative requirements.
  • Assist junior staff with day-to-day issues and escalate more serious issues to senior specialists, consultants, or management staff as needed.
What You Bring to the Table
  • A university degree or equivalent combination of training and experience relevant to the role.
  • 2-5 years of experience handling liability claims, with knowledge of Non-Auto claims being an asset.
  • Pursuing or completion of your Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of legislation governing insurance from all Atlantic provinces.
