Heavy Civil Engineering Specialist

Dexter Construction Company Limited is a leading heavy civil construction company in the Atlantic Provinces. We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team.
About the RoleThe Project Engineer will play a key role in the planning, executing, and delivery of projects. This includes assisting team leads in the preparation of schedules, managing subcontractors, and ensuring that projects are completed safely and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning
- Prepare schedules and coordinate project timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial reports.
- Subcontractor Management
- Manage subcontractor relationships and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities and ensure that they are aware of project requirements.
- Quality Control
- Monitor project quality and ensure that it meets company standards.
- Identify and report any quality issues or concerns.
- Safety
- Ensure that all projects are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
- Monitor and report any safety issues or concerns.
Requirements:
- University degree in Civil/Mining Engineering or other discipline with appropriate work experience.
- Experience in Heavy Civil Construction, drilling, geotechnical, etc., would be considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- AutoCAD experience would be considered an asset.
- Familiar with PowerApps to initiate material and equipment movement between jobs.
- Ability to work as part of a construction team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional attitude, punctual, assertive and personable.
- High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
- Ability to respond in pressure situations with a calm demeanor and high sense of urgency.
- Ability to travel throughout the Maritimes to support various projects.
