About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Medicine Emergency physician to join our medical team at Fisherman's Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our Emergency Department, which is open from 7:30 am to 11:30 pm daily.

Fisherman's Memorial Hospital is a 30-bed acute care community hospital that provides a range of services, including emergency medicine, inpatient care, outpatient services, and long-term care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medicine and family medicine, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients and take their histories
  • Order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
Qualifications
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Current Certification in Family Medicine
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada ER certification considered an asset
