We're seeking a seasoned professional to join our Property Large Loss team as a Field Adjuster. In this role, you'll handle large and complex commercial property claims, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and investigate large and complex commercial property claims, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Engage with internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers, and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages.
- Mentor and guide regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long-term succession planning.
- Train colleagues on complex claims handling and provide technical advice to ensure best practices.
- Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned.
- Provide exceptional customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues, ensuring a positive experience throughout the claims process.
- Deliver key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management.
- Leverage expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support best practice operations.
- Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate and attend settlement conferences and trials.
- A critical thinker with intellectual curiosity and the ability to approach complex problems in time-sensitive situations.
- A skilled communicator with the ability to foster favorable business relationships and provide clear guidance to clients.
- A problem-solver with the ability to gather information, evaluate situations, and negotiate the next steps toward a solution.
- Able to adapt to changing needs and understand the need to be flexible and agile.
- A planner with the ability to effectively organize and establish an effective strategy.
- A strong collaborator with a passion for mentoring and coaching others.
- 10+ years of experience with direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims.
- Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
- Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (asset).
- Travel required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
