Job Summary
The Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Genetic Technologist to join our team in the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory procedures accurately, efficiently, and safely while maintaining quality control and prioritizing workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform molecular diagnostic techniques, including gene amplification by PCR, Sanger sequencing, real-time PCR, and array technology.
- Isolate DNA and RNA from various samples, including blood, fresh tissues, FFPE pathology samples, tissue culture cells, amniotic fluid cells, and CVS tissue.
- Conduct cytogenetic diagnostic techniques, including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making, chromosome analysis, FISH, and image capture.
- Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth laboratory operations and high-quality patient care.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- CMLTO Registration in good standing with endorsement in the disciplines of Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics.
- Current practical experience in a clinical Genetics laboratory, preferred.
- Experience with computer database management and Laboratory Information Systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
