Job Summary
The Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Genetic Technologist to join our team in the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory procedures accurately, efficiently, and safely while maintaining quality control and prioritizing workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory procedures in cytogenetics and molecular genetics, including DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, Sanger sequencing, and array technology.
- Work with computer database management and Laboratory Information Systems to ensure accurate and efficient data management.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain quality control and prioritize workload.
- Develop and implement new laboratory procedures and protocols as needed.
Requirements
- CMLTO Registration in good standing with endorsement in the disciplines of Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics.
- Current practical experience in a clinical Genetics laboratory, preferred.
- Experience with computer database management and Laboratory Information Systems.
- Proficient in isolating DNA and RNA from various sources.
- Proficient in molecular diagnostic techniques, including PCR, Sanger sequencing, and array technology.
- NextGen sequencing experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
