About the Position

The Senior Water Systems Specialist will possess high standards of work quality and organizational performance. You will stay current with advancements in water design and servicing, as well as provincial/federal regulations, to support investigation and troubleshooting. Your expertise will consider best practices and developments within the field, corporate policies, and practices.

You will work closely with the Engineering and Operations staff, as well as our client managers, to provide support for drinking water treatment and distribution facilities. Your responsibilities will include identifying opportunities for process improvement, developing project leads, and monitoring drinking water treatment facilities.

As a Senior Water Systems Specialist, you will assist with troubleshooting design and equipment-related issues and prepare regulatory documents and permits. You will also estimate the level of effort for new project opportunities, contribute to proposal development, and complete conceptual and detailed designs of small drinking water systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support water treatment design activities, including equipment sizing and selection for decentralized water treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
  • Assist with the design of potable water servicing infrastructure from feasibility level to detailed design stage.
  • Assist with construction review and commissioning of water treatment systems.
  • Prepare engineering design reports, facility manuals, permitting and approvals applications, assessment reports, options analysis, and technical memoranda.
  • Track and monitor project and operations sites and work with Operations staff to identify opportunities for new projects.
  • Assist with preparing engineering proposals based on the scope of work and estimated level of effort.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, with 7-12 years' experience working knowledge of drinking water processes and facility design and operation.
  • Experienced in preparing and sealing Engineering Evaluation Reports (EERs).
  • Able to liaise with Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) staff to discuss site-specific drinking water requirements.
  • Knowledge in design and operation of small wastewater treatment systems is a strong asset.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Possession of valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
  • Proficiency in report preparation and MS Office applications.
What We Offer
  • Estimated salary: $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Flexible work hours, 40 hours weekly, typically Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm.
  • Hybrid role – you will be expected to work in our Stoney Creek or Ottawa office, with the option to work remotely up to 3 days a week.
  • Occasional travel to job sites across Ontario is required.
