GFL Environmental is a leading provider of waste management services in North America. We're currently seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team.

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. This figure is based on industry standards and takes into account the level of expertise required for the role.

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial trucks, CNG, gas and electrically operated equipment and vehicles. You will also complete reports, work orders, order parts and perform other administrative duties as required daily.

This role involves:

  • Maintaining a clean work area and ensuring safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations
  • Conforming to all applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors
  • Assisting in the training and orientation of new employees
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of and keeping up with the latest technology through the use of technical manuals and attendance of technical training seminars and testing

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in commercial truck repair, and CNG experience
  • Experience using diagnostic software a plus
  • Must be computer literate, have the ability to be trained on software systems and the willingness to learn
