Job Summary

CIMT College is seeking a skilled Trades Instructor to conduct Renovation workshops at our Calgary campus. The successful candidate will be required to adhere to CIMT College's policies and procedures.

The Instructor will be responsible for following the provided Instructor Manual, which includes courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans. The Instructor will use these materials to train students with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment in the field.

CIMT College values professional conduct and excellence in classroom instruction, with a primary emphasis on hands-on training.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
  • Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials
  • Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
  • Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students
  • Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams, and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students' progress according to guidelines and procedures
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
  • Provide feedback on student performance
  • Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment
  • Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
  • Maintain attendance records accurately
  • Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at the end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
  • Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
  • Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
  • Stay current in the subject matter through professional development
  • Display an attitude of teamwork and problem-solving
  • Perform other related duties as required
Skills Required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles
  • Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model
  • On-campus teaching (training provided, but computer skills are essential)
Qualifications
  • Have 48 months of work experience in the vocation OR
  • Have 36 months of teaching experience in the vocation and 24 months of work experience in the vocation OR
  • Have 24 months of work experience in the vocation AND

o Hold a Bachelor's degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree

o Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent

o Graduate of a registered Career College or equivalent

  • Meet Instructor qualification standards
  • Must be available to teach on campus as per the accepted schedule
