Job Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Child and Youth Counsellor to join our team at Health Sciences North.

About the Role

This part-time position will involve working with children and adolescents experiencing mental health, emotional, and behavioral issues. The successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child and youth counseling, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Counsel patients and their families to address mental health, emotional, and behavioral issues.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote healthy lifestyles, self-esteem, and coping skills.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families on various topics related to mental health.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of a three-year diploma in Child and Youth Counselling from an accredited college.
  • Current certification with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors (OACYC).
  • At least one year of experience working in a Child and Youth department within a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel with empathy and respect for clients and members of the community.
