Job Summary
The Senior Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist will assist plant managers and other site leaders in coordinating, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs primarily for Eastern Canada. This individual will also support the company's HSE activities in achieving corporate objectives, promoting a global improvement in site safety culture, and advancing the OneGraymont strategic approach:
Manage the environment while ensuring health and safety, maintaining internal HSE standards of Graymont Limited.
Direct or assist with environmental regulatory requirements, including timely completion of mandatory reports.
Provide training and/or support for compliance and internal standards requirements, as needed.
Support and/or facilitate HSE incident investigations using root cause analysis methodologies to prevent recurrence.
Participate in internal audits of the company's health, safety, and environmental programs.
Support and influence local HSE committees to promote HSE growth.
Provide supervision and coordinate ECAN compliance support activities, including submitting reports to ensure all reports are complete and submitted on time to provincial and federal regulatory bodies.
Ensure alignment within sites to promote HSE personnel growth at the site, personnel, and frontline employee levels while promoting the OneGraymont culture.
Be a facilitator to create alignment between corporate objectives and workforce engagement to ensure regulatory compliance and promote continuous improvement of Graymont Limited's safety and environmental standards while supporting the advancement of site safety behavioral culture.
Collaborate effectively with operations and other North America functions on continuous improvement projects to build and maintain a world-class HSE function.
Support and advance Graymont Limited's efforts aligned with decarbonization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in sciences or engineering, preferably with an emphasis on health, safety, or environment.
At least 5 years of experience in managing environmental, health, and safety requirements for an industrial operation.
Experience interacting with regulatory bodies, CNESST, and CSST preferred.
Project management experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to influence others in decision-making.
Able to work and resolve problems independently.
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks, prioritize, and organize.
Success in team and individual work environments.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Able to work with minimal direction and function as a member of a team.
Proficiency in basic computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, relational databases).
Bilingual (French and English) is mandatory.
