Job Title: Equine Care Specialist

Fairway Farms Ltd. is seeking a skilled Equine Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our farm staff, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of our horses.

Job Summary:
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
  • Develop specific plans to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient use of time.
  • Disinfect pens, barns, or poultry houses to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
  • Groom horses in preparation for competitions and shows, ensuring they are clean, well-groomed, and ready for action.
  • Handle animals with care and attention, providing a safe and comfortable environment for them to thrive.
  • Organize tasks to accomplish the work, prioritizing and delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform animal grooming activities, including feeding, tending, and caring for the horses.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Train horses to develop their skills and abilities, working closely with our experienced trainers.
  • Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens, maintaining a clean and tidy environment.
  • Maintain work records and logs, tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Perform general farm duties, including setting and monitoring water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Organized and efficient, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Physically demanding, with a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and handling heavy loads.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors and sound discrimination.
  • Standing for extended periods and bending, crouching, and kneeling.
