About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Executive Director to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare in our province.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to our Zone Medical Executive Director team, ensuring the effective implementation of provincial clinical care initiatives and services. You will work closely with our Vice President of Medicine and Zone Operations to establish and achieve quality, safety, and sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic business advice and medical expertise to our executive team and senior leadership
  • Leading the development and implementation of operational and clinical strategies, programs, and initiatives
  • Ensuring alignment with NS Health objectives and quality and sustainability plans
  • Collaborating with Zones to deliver effective, quality, and safe patient-centered care
  • Driving improvement and innovation in service delivery models and achieving agreed-upon outcome and performance goals

We are looking for a candidate with a strong medical background, leadership experience, and a proven track record of success in healthcare. If you are a motivated and results-driven individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, we encourage you to apply.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with:

  • A medical doctorate with evidence of past and ongoing leadership training
  • CCPE/MBA/CHE is preferred
  • 5-7 years' experience at a senior leadership level in healthcare, with a focus on medical programs and services
  • Experience engaging, mentoring, and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative and participative manner
  • Successful record of achievement as a leader, including experience in improvement and innovation in service delivery
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to navigate complex relationships with multiple stakeholders

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary under review. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
