Critical Care Development Program

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurses to participate in our Critical Care Development Program at Lakeridge Health.

Program Overview

The Critical Care Development Program is designed to provide financial resources and support for eligible Registered Nurses to complete the Michener Institute's Critical Care course.

  • Payment for tuition costs
  • Payment for full-time salary and benefits or a stipend while completing the course (11 weeks)
  • Paid clinical placement hours at the employee's current hourly rate

Successful applicants may work on the unit prior to commencing the program in a temporary adjunct role.

Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:

  • Commit to successfully complete the Michener course at time of hire
  • Be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing)
  • Have a current B.C.L.S.
  • Demonstrate commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by CNO
  • Have a BScN preferred
  • Have recent experience in an acute care setting preferred
  • Have proven organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and teaching skills
  • Be able to prioritize and complete assignments in a reasonable length of time
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be able to perform appropriately in emergency situations
  • Be able to lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids
  • Be able to assume a leadership/supervisory role
  • Have knowledge of invasive monitoring, preferred
  • Have evidence of ongoing education preferred
  • Have a satisfactory performance record
