Job Summary

The Personal Care Assistant provides clients with various personal care and homemaker companion services in accordance with an established plan of care, enabling them to remain in their residence.

Essential Functions:
  • Personal Care: Provide assistance with safety supervision, showering, dressing, grooming, skin care, ambulation, range of motion exercise, safe use of equipment and assistive devices, meal preparation.
  • Companionship: Perform homemaking activities, including vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning the client's bathroom.
  • Medication Assistance: Assist clients with medications they self-administer.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent certificate.
  • Meets passing criteria on the DEARS test (Drugs and Ethics test).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.
