Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at Veolia. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our water treatment plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adjust, inspect, and evaluate processes and equipment to optimize performance and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Operate, maintain, and monitor the performance of system process equipment and related appurtenances.
  • Make process adjustments, operational decisions, and address alarm conditions to ensure efficient, compliant, and safe operation.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all equipment to ensure environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain records and documentation of all process and/or work area activities.
  • Accountable for the efficient operation, in compliance with applicable regulations, of all processes within the water and wastewater systems.
  • Collects samples, performs routine laboratory tests, analysis, and calculations, and records results.
  • Interprets laboratory results and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Identifies changes in operational conditions and interprets information to implement corrective actions and/or troubleshoot process issues.

Requirements

  • Valid MECP Water/Wastewater operating certificate(s) and/or licenses as per facility requirements.
  • Valid Class G Driver's License.
  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education in an environmental program would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in a technical trade (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) is required.

Working Environment

  • Physical demands: 50% walking, 40% standing, 5% sitting, 5% driving.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 pounds (25 kgs).
  • Spends 100% of time in the operation and maintenance environment.
