Recreation Therapist II

The Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre's Long Term Care Unit is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist II to take on a leadership role in ensuring the level of therapeutic recreation practice in their clinical area is evidence-based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
As a Recreation Therapist II, you will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care, coordinate the assessment, treatment, education, and care of patients, and participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services. You will also complete assessments, treatments, education, and management of clients' treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation.
The successful applicant will have a bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or Recreation and Leisure Studies, active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA), and a minimum of three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.
Wetaskiwin is a community of approximately 13,000 residents located in Central Alberta, known for its friendly, small-town atmosphere and high accessibility as it is only 45 minutes from Edmonton.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care
- Coordinate the assessment, treatment, education, and care of patients
- Participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services
- Complete assessments, treatments, education, and management of clients' treatment progress
- Provide clinical support and consultation
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or Recreation and Leisure Studies
- Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA)
