Library Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Library Support Specialist is a key member of the Westmount Elementary team, responsible for coordinating the operation of the library facility and providing direct service to students and/or teachers. This role is essential in enhancing student learning by supporting students and volunteers under the supervision of the teaching staff in coordinating library activities and the use of library facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the operation of the library facility, including processing, storing, loaning, and maintaining all materials.
  • Support students and volunteers in coordinating library activities and the use of library facilities.
  • Work in a team environment, reporting directly to the School Principal or designate.
  • Process and maintain library materials, including books, journals, and other resources.
  • Assist with library programming and events, including author visits and book clubs.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Library Information Management or equivalent training and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar. The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay. Rates are based on a five-step scale with step increases occurring annually in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
