Clinical Nurse Lead

The Clinical Nurse Lead is a key member of the AVI Health and Community Services team, responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the development and delivery of nursing care within the organization's Nanaimo location.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Expertise: Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in harm reduction, substance use disorder treatment, HIV, HCV, and primary care.
- Education and Training: Develop and deliver educational opportunities for nursing staff, including certification courses and clinical practice sessions.
- Policy and Protocol Development: Participate in the development of policy and protocol related to clinical practices.
- Team Leadership: Provide person-centered, trauma-informed, and relational supervision and coaching to nursing staff.
- Clinical Practice: Provide direct participant care as a clinic nurse, including assessment, screening, and education.
- Education: Graduation from an approved school of nursing with a baccalaureate in Nursing and current practicing registration as an RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years recent full scope nursing experience working with people with high levels of poly-substance use.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience in healthcare education, adult education, or program development.
- Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge in primary care, substance use, harm reduction, HIV, HCV, sexual health, mental health, and health promotion.
This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, 9:30am – 5:30pm. Hours and days of the week may be subject to change as per program needs.
