Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Lead is a key role within AVI Health and Community Services, responsible for collaborating with the Nurse Manager to develop, support, and deliver nursing care within our Nanaimo location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and coaching to nursing staff to ensure quality clinical care is delivered.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to ensure open communication and coordination across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols in collaboration with the leadership team and community partners.
  • Provide person-centered healthcare, including assessment, screening, and education to support clients.
  • Work in partnership with the Nurse Manager and leadership team to ensure support for the Enhanced Harm Reduction Service and Community Health Centre's multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing with a baccalaureate in Nursing and current practicing registration as an RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Minimum 3-5 years recent full scope nursing experience working with people with high levels of poly-substance use.
  • Minimum one year of recent experience in healthcare education, adult education, or program development.
  • Leadership experience within a BCNU or other union work site an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in supervised consumption/overdose prevention services or safer supply programs.
  • Strong knowledge of substance use disorder and opiate agonist treatment options.
  • Commitment to harm reduction and social justice principles and experience working with individuals who experience intersecting systemic oppression.
