Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Reliability Specialist to join our team at International Paper. As an Electrical Reliability Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and revise equipment criticalities in our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and identify corrective actions to address root causes of electrical equipment failures.
  • Develop and refine our predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Create detailed plans for complex electrical maintenance jobs.
  • Conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential failure modes and effects.
  • Lead small capital reliability improvement projects from start to finish.
  • Develop quality assurance and quality control procedures for critical electrical work.
  • Act as a liaison with our Capital Engineering team and champion Instrumentation Electrical Precision Maintenance (IEPM) initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date on predictive technologies to aid in early detection of impending equipment/process failure.
Requirements
  • Strong background in instrumentation and controls, including PLC and DCS systems.
  • Knowledge of large motor, construction, and maintenance requirements for AC and DC motors.
  • Familiarity with electronic and pneumatic instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to provide technical support for power and control issues and develop work procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with various electrical reliability projects to ensure continuity of operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Power distribution relaying and coordination knowledge.
  • Turbine Generator and Voltage Regulator experience.
  • Power distribution modeling software knowledge.
  • Experience with power distribution, power drives, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with electrical utility tie contracts.
  • EPD Maintenance inspection experience.
  • RCFA experience with power distribution events.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Ability to access confined space entries for RCFA investigations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or CET with an equivalent combination of demonstrated skill and work experience.
  • Registration with APEGA is preferred.
  • Personal commitment to working safely and protecting the safety of others.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy industrial maintenance.
  • Strong electrical aptitude.
  • Experience with PLC/DCS operations and logic.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and constructively, as well as good verbal and written English skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to comprehend complex work instructions and documentation.
  • Ability to travel internationally if required.
