Electrical Reliability Engineer

Key Accountabilities

  1. Review & Revise equipment criticalities in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  2. Lead RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) investigations and identify corrective actions to address the root cause of electrical equipment failures
  3. Lead refinement of the mill predictive and preventative maintenance programs
  4. Create detailed plans for unique complex jobs
  5. Conduct FMEAs (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
  6. Lead small capital reliability improvement projects from start to finish
  7. Develop QA/QC for critical electrical work
  8. IEPM (Instrumentation Electrical Precision Maintenance) Champion and Liaison with the Capital Engineering team
  9. Be familiar with and keep up-to-date on predictive technologies to aid in the early detection of impending equipment/process failure

Requirements

  1. P-Eng required or actively working towards P-Eng designation
  2. Instrumentation and Controls background (PLC, DCS, Electrical)
  3. Knowledgeable on large motor, construction, and maintenance requirements (AC and DC motors)
  4. Solid understanding and familiarity with electronic and pneumatic instrumentation systems
  5. Providing technical support for power and control issues and development of work procedures, standards, addressing of skill deficiencies, and development of best practices
  6. Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  7. Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
  8. Ability to work as a leader in a team and collaborate with various Electrical Reliability Projects to ensure the continuity of operations

Assets for the position

  1. Power Distribution relaying and coordination knowledge
  2. Turbine Generator and Voltage Regulator experience
  3. Power distribution modeling software knowledge
  4. Experience with power distribution, power drives, and instrumentation
  5. Familiarity with electrical utility tie contracts
  6. EPD Maintenance inspection experience
  7. RCFA experience with power distribution events

Physical Demands

  1. Must be able to wear all required safety equipment
  2. Access confined space entries for RCFA investigations

Qualifications

  1. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or CET with the equivalent combination of demonstrated skill and work experience. Registration with APEGA is preferred.
  2. Personal commitment to working safely and protecting the safety of others
  3. Minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy industrial maintenance
  4. Strong Electrical aptitude
  5. Experience with PLC/DCS operations and logic
  6. Ability & confidence to initiate actions with a sense of urgency driving for high quality, sustainable results
  7. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (SAP preferred)
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  9. Experience using Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Word
  10. Ability to communicate effectively and constructively, as well as good verbal and written English skills
  11. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  12. Comprehension of complex work instructions and documentation as well as the ability to perform duties with little direction
  13. Ability to travel internationally if required
