Vice President of Manufacturing – Supplement Manufacturing

Mackenzie Stuart is a leading partner to a renowned dietary supplement contract manufacturer in Canada. They seek an experienced Vice President of Manufacturing to oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, driving efficiency, quality, and compliance.

This company excels in innovation and delivering high-quality nutritional products. Specializing in custom formulations, product development, and large-scale production, they provide comprehensive contract manufacturing solutions to global brands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Lead manufacturing activities, ensuring high standards of efficiency, quality, and compliance. Establish performance goals, streamline production workflows, and manage resource allocation to meet business objectives.
  • Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production, quality, and supply chain functions. Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process enhancements to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and quality. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across teams, including quality, R&D, and supply chain.
  • Quality & Compliance: Maintain stringent quality control and compliance standards to meet industry regulations, including cGMP, Health Canada, and international requirements. Oversee audits and ensure adherence to all regulatory standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive manufacturing strategy aligned with company growth objectives. Identify and prioritize investment opportunities, including facility upgrades, technology implementations, and capacity expansions.
  • Supply Chain Management: Collaborate closely with supply chain teams to optimize raw material sourcing, inventory management, and production scheduling, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal disruptions.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Drive sustainable manufacturing practices, focusing on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmentally conscious production methods.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership, R&D, and sales teams to ensure seamless product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Budget & Financial Oversight: Manage the manufacturing budget, monitor cost performance, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Prepare financial forecasts and reports for executive management.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the dietary supplement, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale manufacturing operations, including managing complex production processes, quality control, and compliance initiatives.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and inspire high-performance teams.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing manufacturing budgets and P&L.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership, customers, and suppliers.
