Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Electronics to work with our Engineering Team on the design, development, and testing of switch-mode power conversion equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test switch-mode power conversion equipment in the 100W to 100kW power range.
  • Collaborate with firmware designers to define project firmware/software requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers in support of new product development and legacy product support.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and assist in the generation of bids and proposals.
  • Contribute to budget, cost, and schedule inputs for engineering projects and job assignments.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Support program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.
  • Develop prototypes to resolve key development risks.
  • Generate engineering documentation to support design activities and customer requirements.

Requirements for Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electrical design in a light manufacturing environment.
  • P. Eng. designation, and eligibility for registration with Engineers NS.
  • Familiarity with military and commercial standards for electrical designs.
  • Ability to read schematics and engineering specs, with a strong troubleshooting skill.
  • Demonstrated understanding and interest in power electronics and power converters design.
  • Application of electronic theory, principles of electrical circuits, testing procedures, and related knowledge to design and debug power electronics circuitry.
  • Strong ability to analyze, record, and interpret test data.
