About The Role

The Senior Commercial Manager will be responsible for the successful administration of contracts with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers. This position is GTA-based but will require travel to client sites.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Forensic reviews of baseline and progress construction schedules & provide input to the project team.
  2. Develop risk register & key contractual obligations from Contract review.
  3. Review Prime Contract to determine obligations, liabilities, and highlight risks.
  4. Manage contract administration processes and results.
  5. Provide interpretation of Prime Contract language.
  6. Develop contract management activities to ensure compliance with the Prime Contract.
  7. Manage contract reporting activities and identify and track deliverables.
  8. Identify and mitigate/prevent/resolve problems involving high risk or high monetary cost to the company.
  9. Develop correspondence with Client as appropriate to request necessary changes and modifications to meet the project requirements.
  10. Assist in negotiations concerning changes.
  11. Ensure timely and accurate contractual correspondence.
  12. Develop and implement Change Management procedures and track contract and subcontract changes/modifications.
  13. Negotiate Change Orders, variations, and change issues.
  14. Prepare narratives and entitlement documentation.
  15. Claims avoidance and management, including preparation of claims submissions.
  16. Analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  17. Negotiate subcontracts and purchase orders.
  18. Manage subcontracts and purchase orders including resolving contractual issues, administration, reviewing change entitlement, and other duties required to support the successful administration of subcontracts and purchase orders.
  19. Maintain excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public.
  20. Train staff on the implementation of contract processes and procedures and contractual requirements/obligations.
  21. Liaise with project teams on a variety of matters as required.
About You

We are looking for someone with 10+ years' leadership experience in the construction industry. A strong background in contract management is essential, along with the ability to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, and Primavera P6.

You will have excellent financial and numeracy management skills, working knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts, and the ability to inspire trust in difficult situations.

Apart from technical skills, we are looking for someone who can forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and meet time demands of unpredictable activities.

You should be capable of handling pressure and challenges, working within tight deadlines, and prioritizing work to achieve goals.

A strong project management, organizational, and investigative skillset is required, along with critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Superior written and verbal communication skills at multiple levels are also essential, as well as a sense of urgency and commitment to achieving goals.
