We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at GHD, specializing in transit design and transportation infrastructure projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing civil engineering designs for various projects, including site grading, track grading, roadway design, and watermain systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop civil engineering designs for transportation infrastructure projects, including site grading, track grading, roadway design, and watermain systems.
  • Contribute to the preparation of civil deliverables, drawings, and details from conception to final design in a 3D modeling environment.
  • Drive design phases and implement design standards on rail and transit and linear infrastructure projects of high complexity.
  • Review and prepare models and drawings, collaborating with other engineers and designers to develop detailed drawings, quantities, and supporting documents.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and design staff to produce high-quality project deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with civil leads, designers, and project team members to ensure timely project information flow and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Maintain contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies, and clients.
  • Prepare reports and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public.
  • Develop BIM/Civil3D and other modeling software capabilities within the team.
  • Interpret geotechnical and hydrology reports to obtain required input data for civil design scope.
  • Work in various procurement strategies, such as Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build environments, to advance civil design packages.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technicians, fostering a team approach.
  • Follow BIM Execution Plan and BIM project requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Adhere to GHD BIM standards and procedures and implement compliance on a project level.
  • Participate in the advancement of GHD Standard Civil/Transportation Details and BIM Standards, promoting changes, mentoring on updates to tools and methods, and assisting with training development and lessons learned exercises.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 6+ years' experience in design and engineering of transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Ontario designation required (or eligible).
  • Proven record of site grading, site servicing, drainage, and access road design using Civil3D software.
  • Experience with corridor and pipe network module in Civil3D.
  • Superior attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and knowledge of Bentley software such as Microstation and OpenRoads.
  • Metrolinx and rail corridor grading design and modeling experience.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Good understanding of level of effort required to complete the work.
  • Positive attitude, good communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency/expertise in BIM Collaboration tools.
  • Strong communication skills for team-based working environment.
  • Ability to work in multiple parallel projects and within a team environment.
  • Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines.
