William Osler Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, which are essential for patient care and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify laboratory results for accuracy and investigate unexpected abnormalities
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment
- Monitor quality control results and respond to discordant results
- Ensure proper specimen collection, transport, and storage
- Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further follow-up
- Assist with bone marrow collections and process in-house and send-out test requests
- Monitor temperature and expiry dates of blood and blood component products
- Issue blood and blood component products
- Participate in laboratory quality management and process improvements
- Medical Laboratory Technologist with CSMLS certification
- Current registration with CMLTO in good standing
- Minimum two years recent transfusion medicine experience in a hospital laboratory setting
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high productivity and professionalism
- Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proven ability to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and Microsoft Office computer systems an asset
